“Because of medical bills not everyone with congenital heart disease can afford college. This is why our family established the scholarship at Salt Lake Community College for those affected by Congenital Heart Disease or CHD”
James Mellor, Scholarship Recipient 2016-2017 (CHD Patient)
The Paul & Kristina Cardall Family Scholarship for Students Affected by Congenital Diseases was established by SLCC distinguished alumnus Paul Cardall, who was born with a complex congenital heart defect. Mr. Cardall received a heart transplant on 09-09-09 and the costs associated with this surgery were very high.
The Paul & Kristina Cardall Family Scholarship has been established to help students who have been affected by, or whose children have been affected by, congenital heart disease, spina bifida, Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, fetal alcohol syndrome or other birth defects, or who have had an organ transplant, to obtain an education at SLCC.
Qualifications
Applicant or applicant's children must have been affected by a congenital disease and/or an organ transplant and be a resident of Utah.
